Learn how an automatic washing machine works

Automatic washing machines first became popular in European countries and later became one of the largest businesses in the world. These washing machines have been used for many years in many countries worldwide. Their systems are slightly different and, in some parts, more complex than regular washing machines because they can be washed without any detergent. And clean the clothes with a little water.

History of automatic washing machines

Automatic washing machines have been around for many years and were introduced by Benedix in 1937. These washing machines are fully automated and do the job of washing, spinning, and unloading clothes without any interference, and their size is usually large.

With the outbreak of World War II, many people were forced to prepare for military service, and all began to wash their hands. After World War II in 1950, the twin washing system was introduced. The clothes are washed in one part and dried in the other, which greatly reduces cleaning them.

Ordinary washing machines were used after that, but little by little, automatic washing machines could replace them. So that the clothes in the machine were both washed and dried.

This design became more popular than anywhere else in Europe. Other countries began using washing machines in the early 2000s, believing that their energy savings were enormous.

Automatic washing machines are more expensive than conventional machines but save more water and energy, so they are worth buying.

Automatic washing machine components at a glance

The internal components of an automatic washing machine are simpler than a conventional washing machine. The motor of the washing machine is connected to the drum through a belt and a small wheel.

This device has a flexibility system similar to a plastic tank that holds clothes inside and prevents water from spilling out of the device. It makes its rotation completely soft and light.

The plastic tape used inside the compartment prevents clothes from smelling, but you should regularly clean your automatic washing machine.

Automatic types are part of the washing machine that allows you to open the door when working with the device and add loose clothes that usually have a small door above the main entrance, even if the machine’s rotation does not drain the water.

The car’s internal mechanical parts are quite simple, but its control system is not simple. The control system of the washing machine is such that you can determine the number of rotations according to the size of the clothes.

These electronic components have minicomputers controlled by them, and if the parts are damaged, the control system must be completely replaced. However, sometimes the blockage of some pores and cavities causes a problem that can be solved by cleaning it by a specialist.

Types of automatic washing machines

Introduction of automatic washing machine components and parts

Engine

One of the main components of the washing machine is the motor, which has a multi-speed capability and can be changed if necessary. The mixer and the internal boiler are connected to the washing machine motor inside the machine. The engine rotates them when the device is running and accelerates in the first cycle.

Electronic board

PCBs or boards have a big impact on how the washing machine works and include various electronic components and circuits that calculate the total weight of the clothes and determine the amount of water and detergent needed and the real-time required to wash the clothes.

timer

The timer is another component of the washing machine that can manually adjust the washing time. In automatic washing machine mode, the required time is set automatically depending on the number of clothes in the washing machine and the type of washing cycle.

Solenoid valve

In the washing machine, near the water inlet, there is a water inlet control valve, an electronic valve that allows hot and cold water to pass through. This valve opens automatically after placing the clothes in the washing machine and turning it on and closes automatically after determining the amount of water required.

Water drain pump

The drain pump is one of the washing machine components that work in two parts, one in the recirculation of water in the washing cycle and the other in the drain of water in the rotation cycle. Water is drained from the boiler through the pump.

flower pot

The other part of the device is the external boiler, which covers the internal boiler and supports it improves the device’s performance in different washing periods. Water is pumped from this fixed boiler. After the water comes out, the inner pot is refilled with clean water, and the mixer is used again to rotate the clothes.

Wash

Washing Another part of the washing machine and compartment has small holes where the clothes are placed, washed, rinsed, and dried. Small drain holes are used to drain the water inside. The centrifugal force, called the dryer, causes moisture to escape from the boiler.

Rotating disk

This is an important part of the washing machine and is located inside the washing machine boiler, whose job is to clean clothes. The constant rotation of the mixer and creating strong rotational currents in the water during the washing cycle cause the clothes to rotate more in the water, which contains detergent, and contaminated particles are removed from the fabric.

How does an automatic washing machine work?

There are many similarities between automatic washing and regular washing. First, their interior is made of stainless steel and has an external washing chamber, motor, control system, pump, and rotating plate that absorbs water.

Automatic washing machines are filled by filling a container from the inside of the device to the bottom of the washing machine. A small amount of water is placed in this container, and then the same small amount of water is spread between the clothes.

The activity and performance of rotation in these washing machines are similar to drying clothes in ordinary machines. In the inner drum of the washing machine, there is a side pedal that lifts the clothes a little and takes their water. This removes dust and fabric.

How an automatic washing machine works

This mechanical activity does not require that large amounts of water surround all clothing at the same time. For this reason, automatic washing machines consume much less water than conventional washing machines.

The detergents used in these washing machines are also much less, and the foam and bubbles created will be relatively less.

An automatic washing machine reduces water consumption by up to 50%. Still, conventional washing machines use 26 gallons of water per wash, which is about 13 gallons of water in an automatic washing machine. That means saving thousands of gallons of water in a typical family a year. As a result, energy storage is increased, and costs are reduced.

Automatic washing machines use a small amount of water per cycle, no matter what kind of clothes are thrown into the machine. The more space the device has, the more water it needs to wash, which is perfectly normal.

Summary of washing steps in the washing machine

Washing begins with the entry of water into the detergent chamber, and the detergent is mixed with water and introduced into the boiler through pipes connected to the detergent. The water in the washing machine compartment is then filled.

After the water temperature reaches the appropriate level, the water in the boiler washes the clothes thoroughly using a rotating force. The springs inside the machine are responsible for balancing the machine from top to bottom during washing, ensuring that the washing machine does not move and stays in place.

At the end of the wash cycle, the timer instructs the drain pump to drain the water and removes the water pump and foam. The pot is then filled with clean cold water to rinse the clothes.

The water and detergent are then drained completely, and the pump is switched off automatically. Then rotate the clothes in cold water for a while to make them cleaner.

This is very important in how the washing machine works. The engine starts to rotate. At this point, when the washing machine is spinning, the dryer or drain pump is turned on, and the water coming out of the clothes is drained, and the clothes are almost dry.
